Curing the Negative Business Impact of Poor Data Quality
People and things are waiting for quality data. If the data is not complete, on-time and accurate there multiple negative business implications. It goes beyond dollars and cents. Bad data slows employees down, they feel their performance is suffering. According to the Harvard Business Review, the reason bad data costs so much is that decision makers, managers, knowledge workers, data scientists, and others must accommodate it in their everyday work. And doing so is both time-consuming and expensive. The data that is needed may have plenty of errors, and in the face of a critical deadline, many individuals simply make corrections themselves to complete the task at hand...aka the “hero” approach. Bad data is bad for business. Ovum Research reported that poor quality data is costing businesses at least 30% of revenues. Excess inventory, scrap, rework, mis-schedules are just a few examples of the impact. Resulting in reduced revenue, decreased margins and worst of all, unhappy customers.
In this session, you will hear how a local University is addressing data quality in their organization. If you plan is to become a "Digital Business" you have to have a solid data foundation.
